end of summer...

I am always glad to see Anna Paquin. I guess it has smt to do with my childhood and my childhood memories. I remember one day, many years ago, my mother decided to take me and a few of my friends to see a film on a lazy Sunday afternoon. We were all so excited. Film "The Piano" (by Jane Campion, Anna Paquin won an Oscar for a Best Actress in a Supporting Role) was released and showing that year. I was very young at the time, but not a child, approaching teenage years. Anyhow, my mother saw the trailer for the film and decided not to take us see it since, in her opinion, it was tooooo sensual, sexy, brutal, in one word, not a very appropriate film for young ladies.

So, she came up with the alternative - "True Romance" (Christian Slater, Patricia Arquette) which was showing as well. She didn't see the trailer for this one, so assumed it must be smt nice and girly as it had two very nice words in the title True and Romance...well she was wrong, so wrong....This movie was so brutal, sexy, aggressive (btw loved it) and I guess a much bolder choice than the arty "Piano"...my mother was sooo surprised, shocked even...Anyhow, we all enjoyed the film and had a lovely time but, after this film I was allowed to see "The Piano" and all the other films...PG for films addio...well childhood memories...and yes, that is why I am glad to see Anna...enjoy the end of summer!
